Planning your Haj journey?
Before you begin your spiritual pilgrimage, it’s vital to ensure your health and vaccinations are up to date. The Ministry of Health (MOH), Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA), and MUIS have announced new vaccination requirements for all Singapore pilgrims travelling for Haj as reported in the news. These updates aim to protect travellers and the global Muslim community from preventable diseases.

🌍 Updated Haj Health Requirements
All Singapore pilgrims must now have proof of the following vaccinations before departure:
✅ Obtain your Health Certificate - New Requirements
✅ Meningococcal ACWY vaccine – Mandatory, to be completed at least 10 days before travel
✅ COVID-19 vaccine – One dose of the updated 2024-2025 vaccine, completion of primary series, or proof of recovery in 2024
✅ Influenza (flu) vaccine – Must be received within 12 months of departure
In addition, the MOH encourages all pilgrims to ensure that their routine adult vaccinations (such as pneumococcal, MMR, and hepatitis B) are up to date before travel.
Why These Vaccinations Matter
1. Protect Yourself in a High-Risk Environment
The Haj brings together millions of pilgrims from around the world. In such crowded conditions, respiratory diseases like meningococcal infection, influenza, and COVID-19 spread easily.
Vaccination helps your body build protection before exposure.
2. Prevent Serious Health Complications
Meningococcal disease can cause life-threatening meningitis and bloodstream infections.
Influenza can worsen chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease.
COVID-19 continues to pose risks for the elderly and those with underlying conditions.
3. Avoid Travel & Visa Delays
Saudi authorities and Singapore’s MOH require vaccination proof before travel. Missing or late vaccinations can cause delays in visa approval or boarding.
4. Safeguard Your Loved Ones
When you protect yourself, you also protect your fellow pilgrims and your family back home from potential infection.
How to Prepare for a Safe and Healthy Pilgrimage
Book your travel health consultation early — ideally 4–6 weeks before departure.
Bring your vaccination records so your doctor can identify what you need.
Get your required vaccinations at least 10 days before departure.
Request official vaccination certificates for border and visa checks.
Manage chronic conditions (like diabetes or hypertension) and carry enough prescribed medication for the entire journey.
